ODYSSEY 2012

It’s very hard to begin a journey, especially one that has no destination. Indeed, the word wanderer may well describe the underlying force that drives the nomadic people. Certainly, and at one time, that definition pretty much fit the Nimblewill Nomad. However, that tag no longer applies, as this old wanderer now has goals, goals set many trail miles back when the realization struck that he was well along on hiking all 11 (at that time, eight) of America's National Scenic Trails. To date, Nomad’s trekked down nine of them. Only two remain, the Ice Age and the New England.

Over many years, near-countless trail miles Nimblewill’s pretty much managed to get his gear "stuff" squared away. He’s got many dear sponsors to thank for that--the very best gear, by the greatest gear folks in the world. Due to their kindness and continued generosity, he'll again be carrying an unbelievably light pack.

And so, and as you may now well suspect, this hiking season, good Lord willing (he’s now 73), Nimblewill will shoulder his pack and head out once more--in quest of those final two.

He’ll be keeping journal entries, taking pictures and videos. There’ll soon be an Odyssey 2012 page here listing a tentative itinerary, also, his steadfast sponsors. Please check back often, then plan on following another predictably unpredictable Nimblewill Nomad adventure. Sure enough, we’ll have a great time!

A PATH BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

A special recitation by Nimblewill Nomad
Video by George Orozco of Seattle, Washington

George is an Ultra-Distance Runner, looking to soon thru-hike the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail. A special thank you to George, for the time and effort taken to put together an image and music background for the Nomad's recitation of this poem/prayer.

"Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun."
