Trail Day–143
Trail Mile–-9.2/1,624.0
Location–PA-183, then to Rock n’Sole Hostel, Blue Mountain Road, Schuylkill Haven, Ben & Jody Stine, Proprietors, AT Mile 1,205.3
Front row seat last night (a big picture window in my hotel room) from which to watch the intense storm, thunder clapping, lightning crashing all around. Ben and Misty put me up in this plush room while they chose to tent out at a nearby campground. They told me they stayed dry, but no way.
Hey, hey, sometime during the next day or so, the distance to complete this 2021 Bama to Baxter Odyssey (the remaining number of miles) will drop from four digits to three–to less than a thousand miles. Getting there, friends, getting there!
Not a whole lot to tell you about this stumble-through-the-boulders day (on old Blue Mountain) other than I managed to remain upright. Thank you, Lord.
Photos really tell the story better…
The rocks of old Blue Mountain
Strike brutal and relentless,
While we intrepid trip along
Totally defenseless.
(N. Nomad – 7/’98)
Sometimes just being able to stay upright, especially on a day with a lot of rocks, is a win! Keep on trucking!

Wow — the pictured of the rock jumbled trail really tells the story. And I was thinking ‘only 9.5 miles?’ But after seeing that I’m amazed you got that far with that kind of terrain.
Stay healthy my friend.
