Trail Day–180
Trail Mile–-0.00/2,011.3
Location–US-201, Sterling Inn, Caratunk, Eric Angevine, Proprietor
A so-so rainy day had been forecast for today, and that’s what we’ve ended up with. Made the decision last evening to take a day off, a much needed day of rest. Eric (and son, Zack) accommodated me, let me keep the same fine upstairs room again today/tonight.
And it’s been a good day of rest. I’ve kept my badly swollen left leg elevated most the entire time, while watching the gentle rain from my upstairs bedroom window (banged up my leg on a sharp rock two days ago during one of my many tumbles).
Stripper, and her friend, Tigger (both from NOC, Gatlinburg) have also stayed over and we enjoy breakfast and lunch together (lunch prepared by Stripper). Afternoon, Tigger, drives me down to the Caratunk post office (where Zack is Postmaster), so I can get my bounce box bounced on over to Hostel of Maine in Stratton. I’ll be staying there a few nights.
Evening, Stripper, Tigger, and I head down to Kennebec River Pub & Brewery for a fine evening of dining.
Been a much needed day of rest. Morning, nine o’clock, I’ll take the canoe ride across the Kennebec and head for the Bigelows of western Maine…
As important as it is to have a plan for doing…
it is perhaps more important to have a plan for rest…

I am very happy you got to see Stripper again. She is a very dear friend of mine and an outstanding girl in her own right. Best wishes to you as you continue on,
