Trail Day–219
Trail Mile–-8.0/2238.6
Remaining Miles–378.6
Location–Dirt Road (414.9) to Cape Moonshine Road (406.9) , then back to Hikers Welcome Hostel, Glencliff, John Packrat and Alyson Robblee, Proprietors, Acadicus, Caretaker

Well folks, here at Hikers Welcome Hostel, I’ve had a Happy Landing. Last night was our third night here, and we’ll likely be here one, perhaps two more nights.

Hikers Welcome has been caring for hikers for more than two decades. I first met Packrat during Odyssey 2000, my southbound ECT trek. He’d just gotten the place up and running then. He’s away now, so I’ll not get to see him this time through. Hey Packrat! I’ve asked Acadicus to give you a shout-out for me! Hope you’re doing well!

The hike today takes me up and over Mount Cube, a climb of 1,500 feet. From there, I’ve a descent of 2,000 feet before a final short climb of 500 feet to Cape Moonshine Road. Views today are limited but are spectacular–from Quartzite Ledges. There have been plenty more rocks, boulders, and roots, which makes for another eight-hour day (to hike eight strenuous miles), a long, difficult time of it…

The bravest sight in the world is to see a…
man struggling against adversity.

  1. Hey, Nomad, looks like the changing leaves have not reached New England yet. 26 September and those trees look surprisingly green to me. Less than 400 miles left. That must feel great.
