how ’bout them apples?

No need to get up any particular time this morning. So, I sleep in till seven-thirty. Everyone else is up and at it. Coffee’s on. Kitchen Sink has prepared country fries and Barry fixes eggs for me. A fine start for this day!

Ten-thirty, Barry drives me to Dr. Gregory’s office in Lebanon. My appointment is for 11:30. I’m taken in and Dr. Gregory sees me right away. A patient man. He examines my pitiful toe, asks many questions–spends much time with me. Conclusion? It could use some help, not the least of which would require surgery. But I’ve no time for that. So, the least of which? A steroid shot to treat the symptom (pain) short-term. That should at least provide relief, hopefully, for the time needed to complete this long journey.

Back at the hostel, it’s still early afternoon, so I decide to get out and hike six miles. Plenty of time to trek from Quechee Road to Cloudland Road–and reach there well before dark. Odie says he’ll hike with me! So, Barry loads us, hauls us to Quechee Road, and we’re soon hiking.

There are many ups and downs along this trail section, but it’s easy going. We’re able to cover the six miles before six, less than four hours.

Lot’s done today–a very successful one…

Success is not measured by what you accomplish,
but by the opposition you have encountered,
and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle…
