Trail Day–154
Trail Mile–-16.7/1,774.4
Location–CR-565, then to Mosey’s Place Hostel, Port Jervis, NY, AT Mile 1,355.7
Believe it or not, Mosey has breakfast set for us (Barry, St. Paul, Potato Chip and me) at 6:00 a.m.–coffee, bacon ‘n eggs, taters & toast–and we’re out the door and gone shortly after. Barry had us on trail at seven.
This is going to be a long hiking day, but I’ve been told the rocks and boulders back off–after the climb to High Point. And that’s pretty much how I find it. The climb up to New Jersey High Point is the typical rock and boulder scramble, but then the rocks and boulders pretty much go away, leaving delightful hiker-friendly tread!
Another blue-perfect hiking day, clear skies, a mild breeze, nor too hot; just perfect! Potato Chip & St. Paul are both strong hikers, and they’ve left this old fellow in the dust. Chip finishes the day at three, Paul at four, and the old guy finally gets in at five.
Barry stops once more at Dairy Queen so we can reward ourselves for a successful hiking day. And the reason for my reward? Hey, the old guy managed to remain upright all day!
The end is not the reward;
the path you take,
the emotions that course through you as you grasp life
– that is the reward.

Great pictures and a great day to hike! Stay focused – you’re doing great.
