Thursday–August 26, 2021
Trail Day–188
Trail Mile–-8.3/2057.4
Remaining Miles–560.0
Location–Caribou Valley Road, then to Hostel of Maine, Carrabassett Valley, Justin & Melanie Steele, Proprietors

My rest here these past three days at Hostel of Maine has been of much benefit (plus, it was what the doctor ordered). I’ve good energy now and this morning I’m ready to return to the trail.

Another perfect day for hiking. I’m out and climbing by eight. And what a climb it turns to be, 2,800 feet of elevation gain in less than five miles to reach the summit of Crocker Mountain–very slow going, three hours, up through the boulders.

Such a clear day. The views across toward Sugarloaf, then the Bigelows from  South Crocker, spectacular sharp tops standing with their summits against the sky.

Mid afternoon, Justin comes hiking up. What a surprise. The remainder of the bail-off goes quickly.

Evening, Al Learned comes by to spend a bit of time. We definitely have a lot in common.

Energy and persistence conquer all things.
